This is the Medicare Secondary Payer Recovery Portal (MSPRP) home page for beneficiaries. It functions as the main processing page to initiate any MSPRP functions available to you. This is the page you will navigate to if you click Go to MSPRP on the Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) page of the Medicare.gov website or if you click Home on the menu bar from any page within the MSPRP.
Navigation Menu
The navigation menu at the top of each page provides the following menu options:
• Home – Navigates to the Welcome! (Home) page.
• About This Site – Navigates to the How to Use This Site help page.
• CMS Links – Provides a link to the CMS.gov website, and the General Medicare page on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) website. The CMS.gov website contains general MSP recovery related questions, tools and resources. The General Medicare page lists general information about Medicare.
• How To… – Provides detailed information on performing the following functions:
- Getting Started
- Requesting Your Login ID
- Requesting Your Password
- Changing Your Password
- Resetting Your PIN (this is not applicable to the beneficiary)
- Changing Your Account Representative (this is not applicable to the beneficiary)
- Changing Your Account Manager (this is not applicable to the beneficiary)
- Inviting Account Designees (this is not applicable to the beneficiary)
• Reference Materials – Provides a link to view and download the MSPRP user guide. This user guide was written to help the user understand the MSPRP, how to complete the corporation/organization's registration, and how to access and use the available case-function processes.
• Contact Us – Provides information on who to contact to get assistance with technical or MSP issues.
• Logoff – Click to close the MSPRP application. You will need to log in to the site again to continue working. Any data not saved before logging out will be lost.
Quick Help
All pages in the MSPRP contain a Quick Help section with the Help About This Page link. The link will open a help document with information to assist you in understanding the page you have accessed.
Case Access
To access or manage a case, click the Request Case Access link to add a case to your account. Once the case is added, you will be able to view and manage the case by clicking the Case Listing link.
Note: The Request Case Access, Case Listing, and Report a Case links are not accessible until after your Profile Report has been returned and your account has been activated.
They are also not available during nightly system processing.
• Request Case Access –
Opens the New Case Request page where you can search for and add a case to your account ID that is not currently included on your Case Listing page.
The following information is required to search for and request access to a case: case ID (unique identifier assigned to the recovery case by CMS) or Date of Incident (DOI); Medicare ID (Health Insurance Claim Number [HICN] or Medicare Beneficiary Identifier [MBI]) or
Social Security Number (SSN); Beneficiary last name, and Beneficiary date of birth.
• Case Listing – Opens the Case Listing page where you will be able to view and manage recovery cases that were successfully added to your account ID.
• Report a Case – Opens the Case Creation page, where you may enter data related to your case and begin the case creation process.
The following information is required to report a case: Beneficiary's Medicare ID (Health Insurance Claim Number [HICN] or Medicare Beneficiary Identifier [MBI]) or Social Security
Number (SSN); Beneficiary's last name, Beneficiary's date of birth, and date of accident/incident. Additionally, at least one diagnosis code is required for case submission.

At the bottom of the Home page, there are links to the MSPRP Privacy Policy and User Agreement.
