How to Change Your Password

The Medicare Secondary Payer Recovery Portal (MSPRP) requires users to change their password every 60 days. The system will prompt you to make this change. You can only update your password once per day.

If you do not remember your current or temporary password, please refer to How to Request Your Password under the How To... menu option.

  1. From the Welcome! Home page, click the Change Password link under Account Settings
  2. Enter your Current or Temporary Password, as applicable.
    Note: Temporary passwords are provided during password resets.
  3. Enter and re-enter a new password following the listed guidelines.
  4. Click Continue to display the Change Password Confirmation page.
  5. Click Continue to return to the Welcome! Home page. Use your new password the next time you log in to the MSPRP.

Password Requirements

  • Password must be changed every sixty (60) days
  • Password must be at least eight (8) characters
  • Password must contain at least one upper-case letter, one lower-case letter, one number and one special character
  • Password must contain a minimum of four (4) changed characters from the previous password
  • Password cannot be changed more than once per day
  • Password must be different from the previous twenty-four (24) passwords
  • Password cannot contain a reserved word (see the user guide for a list)

Changing Temporary Passwords

When you have forgotten your password and have been sent a temporary one, you are required to change it the next time you log into the MSPRP. During this process, you will have the option to change or keep the security questions and answers previously selected.

  • Security Question 1: Select or confirm your security question.
  • Answer 1: Enter or confirm the answer to Security Question 1.
  • Security Question 2: Select or confirm your second security question.
  • Answer 2: Enter or confirm the answer to Security Question 2.

When you change your password in the MSPRP, it will also be changed for all the following Coordination of Benefits (COB) secure web applications for which you are a registered user: Workers’ Compensation Medicare Set-Aside Portal (WCMSAP), Commercial Repayment Center Portal (CRCP), and/or the Section 111 Coordination of Benefits Secure Web Site (COBSW) Portal.
