TIN Search
If you are an Account Manager (AM) or Account Designee (AD), you may update an address for any Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) associated with a Responsible Reporting Entity (RRE) ID for your account.
Use the TIN Record Maintenance TIN Search page to search for the TIN record you wish to update. You may search using the nine-digit TIN, along with either the office code or entity type, depending on the RRE reporter type (i.e., NGHP or GHP, respectively). When done, the results of the search appear on the TIN Record Information page.
GHP Entity Types:
- I: Insurer/TPA
- E: Employer
- F: Federal Employer
- S: Other Plan Sponsor
- Z: Foreign Employer
Note: The Office Code field is shown only for NGHP RREs, and the Entity Type field is shown only for GHP RREs. These fields are required when shown. The TIN is required for all searches.

TIN Record Information
Once you run your search, the TIN Record Information page shows the results based on the TIN/Office Code (NGHP) or TIN/Entity Type (GHP) combination entered in the search for the associated RRE ID account.
This page is automatically populated with the current contact information stored in the system. From here, you can update the TIN contact information and, for NGHP RREs, edit or add the recovery agent contact information. For NGHP RREs that meet the Go Paperless requirements, you can also set the Go Paperless options.
Click Search Again to return to the search page and edit your search.
About Setting Go Paperless Options
If you are an NGHP RRE and have an active Medicare Secondary Payer Recovery Portal (MSPRP) account for the NGHP insurer/recovery agent TIN, you may also use this page to set the Go Paperless option for the NGHP insurer and/or recovery agent addresses. Addresses set to paperless will receive letter notification emails and must view correspondence on the MSPRP. This portal, which can be accessed at https://www.cob.cms.hhs.gov/MSPRP/, is a secure web-based application that allows its users to access and update MSP case-specific information.
If you want the TIN/Office Code address to go paperless, select the TIN/Office Code Paperless Indicator checkbox. If you want the recovery agent to go paperless, select the Paperless Indicator checkbox under Recovery Agent Information and enter the recovery agent’s TIN. Leave these checkboxes unchecked if you do not want the TIN/Office Code address for the insurer and/or the recovery agent to go paperless.
When changes are made to the paperless settings for an insurer or recovery agent address, an email will be sent to the MSPRP account notifying them of the change. If an address is opted in to Go Paperless, the account will begin receiving letter notification emails and stop receiving mailed letters for that address within 5-10 business days. If an address is opted out of Go Paperless, the account will begin receiving mailed letters generated for that address within 5-10 business days of the letters being sent.
Notes:
- The TIN/Office Code Paperless Indicator checkbox is disabled unless there is an active MSPRP account for the RRE’s TIN.
- The recovery agent TIN field can only be saved when there is an active MSPRP account associated with it. This field is required when the Paperless Indicator is checked.
- If you make any updates, your next TIN Reference File submission should be updated to match your changes, or the updates will be overwritten during system updates.
